I decided after hours of exhausted searching, fingers cramping up, and utter frustration to the point of screams and tears, that I needed to start a blog. I spent my evening searching the Internet for a book blog that would give me some recommendations for new books but to my suprise I found very few blogs and many I didn't like. Some were out of date by years, heck I think they were started with the creation of blogging. Others were simply confusing or didn't give a review of the book at all.
So here I am trying to save the world one book worm at a time. I should probably start some sort of a book goal. Read and review 52 books in a year or something like that but we all know that this blog probably wouldn't last long at that rate. So .... I believe I will simply try to assist others in finding a good book and in other "book-y" endeavours.
I am currently about to start a new adventure into literature with a book by Tana French "In the Woods". The back grabbed me immediately and despite my 19 month old's screams of displeasure I made him wait in line with Mommy at Borders while I clutched my new treasure securely in hand and waited patiently in the post Christmas frenzy. I must say so far the book has been worth it. Although I have not yet opened it up I am cherishing it as I do most new books. First I stare at it for a while and dissect the cover. I know they say "You can't judge a book by its cover" but I will be honest occasionally I do.
The back of the book tells me it is a mystery about a man whom, years earlier as a boy, was discovered in the woods near his home covered in blood clinging to a tree. This man is now a detective and must investigate a murder that took place in those very woods.
This is the first book by Tana French and besides being a New York Times Bestseller it also received the Anthony, Macavity and Barry awards for best first novel, and the Edgar award for best first novel by an American author.
Sounds like it could be good, now I just have to crack it open. So for now this is goodbye.
Happy Reading,
Jennie
